The Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award (NHEA) has officially opened nominations for its 11th edition, set to take place on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
For over a decade, NHEA has been the premier platform recognizing and celebrating excellence, innovation, and dedication in Nigeria’s healthcare sector. The 2025 edition continues this tradition, spotlighting outstanding individuals, institutions, and organizations that have made significant contributions to improving healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
Theme: “Collaborating for Impact: Strengthening Health Systems through the SWAp Approach”
This year’s theme underscores the importance of multi-sectoral partnerships in advancing sustainable healthcare development. It highlights the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp) as a strategy for enhancing coordination between public and private sector stakeholders to build a stronger, more resilient healthcare system in Nigeria.
Dr. Wale Alabi, Project Director of NHEA, emphasized the importance of this approach, stating:
“For over a decade, NHEA has set the standard for healthcare excellence in Nigeria. This year’s theme highlights the power of partnerships in strengthening health systems. We invite the public to nominate outstanding contributors and join us in recognizing healthcare champions.”
Nominations Now Open: How to Participate
Nominations are now open and can be submitted online via www.nigeriahealthcareawards.com.ng. The nomination period closes at midnight on May 2, 2025. The public is encouraged to nominate deserving individuals and organizations across various award categories.
Award Categories
NHEA 2025 will feature four major award categories with over 30 subcategories, recognizing leaders and innovators across Nigeria’s healthcare ecosystem. These include:
- Special Recognition Awards – Honoring lifetime contributions and outstanding achievements in healthcare.
- Healthcare Delivery Services – Celebrating excellence in hospitals, clinics, and health service providers.
- Biomedical Technology & Innovation – Acknowledging groundbreaking advancements in medical technology.
- Pharmaceutical Excellence – Recognizing top-performing pharmaceutical companies, researchers, and practitioners.
- Health Tech – Honoring trailblazers leveraging technology to transform healthcare delivery.
New Health Tech Categories Introduced in Partnership with Digital Health Nigeria (DHN)
In response to growing innovation in the digital health space, NHEA has introduced two new award categories in collaboration with Digital Health Nigeria (DHN):
- NHEA-DHN Award for Excellence in Health Tech
- NHEA-DHN Emerging Health Tech Startup of the Year
These awards recognize pioneering digital health solutions and the next generation of health-tech startups shaping the future of healthcare in Nigeria.
